Why is it important to conserve and protect polar lands?
The polar regions are important as they regulate the worlds climate. Even a small increase in temperature can melt sea ice. Sea ice also affects the movement of ocean waters and circulation, causing climate changes.
Not enough sea ice is a problem for wild life and people who live and hunt in the polar region.
The flora and fauna in these areas is unique, giving home to thousands of species of animals, plants and organisms. These polar lands are important to global diversity.
If these lands are not preserved, future generations will be missing out on some of the most diverse ecosystems, amazing geographical processes and beautiful landscapes.
